I assume it is for IR filtering, and perhaps also has some anti-static properties. The reason I ask is now I am worried that I have removed it, or degraded it. I am not sure the anti-static matters as much because dry dust is just not the real problem. It is grease grease grease!!! But if the IR filter is removed or degraded, I get what optical effect? How would one test for it? When ...

Thought I would post a couple jpegs of some Nikasil cylinders that I recently de-glazed with an aluminum oxide grape style "hone". Hone is really a misnomer for this tool since aluminum oxide isn't hard enough to actually cut Nikasil but just de-glazes the surface similar to Red Scotchbrite. Engine Hone sells this tool specifically for Nikasil cylinders. I was very pleased with the results...

Re: Canon 30D or 20D?? Hi and welcome.... If you were considering an upgrade from 20D to 30D, I'd say there's not enough difference to justify it. But, since you are buying outright and have to make a choice, yes I'd definitely go with the newer model. I went from 10D to a pair of 30Ds, skipping over the 20D model. A similar ...

Question My science fair project is about corroded metals. I put a penny, a stainless steel spoon, a small piece of aluminum foil and steel wool, each, in a bowl of water and a bowl of orange juice. Why didn't the stuff in the orange juice rust? They sat in for 5 days. Answer Hi Johathan I would think that of the materials you tested, only the steel wool may have shown some rust in...

....yes it is.... The iPhone uses a Capacitive touchscreen.... "A capacitive touchscreen panel is coated with a material, typically indium tin oxide, that conducts a continuous electrical current across the sensor. [2] [3] The sensor therefore exhibits a precisely controlled field of stored electrons in both the horizontal and vertical axes - it achieves capacitance. The human body is also an ...
I let my father borrow my old D70 for quite sometime, he complained about black dots on the image. I gave him that camera because it has been totally abused and if it breaks, not much loss to me. I sometimes would get it back when I go into the mountains with a motocross bike and want to take some pictures. I already have dropped it, fell with it, beat it against my motorcycle handlebars and ...

Note, this post consists of the whole Wikipedia article about the word " Phosphor " I'm not claiming it, i'm just posting it up here for posterity, to proliferate information on the internet. My main crack pot theory is: Maybe the effects of THC are phosphor-like, emiting light inside our brains? Phosphor, a chemical known to glow due to chemiluminescence, is a main ingredient in the ...

With 5D in particular, certain types of cleaning fluids are *not* recommended. The 5D has a tin oxide coating on the high pass filter (which sits over the sensor and actually is what you are cleaning). www.photographicsolutions.com has more info about the Eclipse and Eclipse2 cleaning solutions they manufacture. One is not recommended for 5D, the other is okay.
