Hey everyone, I know that Time Machine only backs up FileVault volumes upon user logout, but even that seems to not be working. Time Machine works fine while I'm logged in - the drive (minus my FileVault home directory) gets backed up completely. However, my FileVault directory only gets backed up the very first time after enabling Time Machine. After that, it never backs up - ...

I am wondering if anyone else ha experienced this. I have Time Machine backing everything up on my Mac to a hard drive, but I keep on getting an error message. It says that "the back up volume is read only" and prompts me to change it....when I eject the drive, unplug it, and then plug it in again, it appears in the disks window of the Time Machine preferences, and I select it and its ...

Hi I set up Time Machine about a month ago. I had an additional 250GB USB External Hard Drive connected but it was not included in the back up. I think that at the time I had been told that I could add the files from the 250GB external to the back-up Time Machine disk later. Also, before I set up Time Machine on the new 1TB USB drive, I partitioned the drive, and I think as I was...

I'd also go back to 1996 - the Maldives, stalk my younger self while he was having dinner on the beach with this gorgoeous girl, and when she left for a minute I would go over, hold a knife to younger self's throat and say something like this: "Look, soon you are going to feel very uncertain about the awkward pauses. The thing NOT to say is 'Um, I'm getting tired... I think I will go to ...

I just read, that apparently if a time machine is invented, you can only use it to go into the future, and you can only go back to when the time machine was created. So say its 2022, the time machine was created in 2009, that is the only date you could go back to, but you can go to the future as the time machine is already there in the future so it wouldnt matter. But do you see ...

My kids love this story, too, because they've just finished Tintin in America, and Capone is a prominent character... OK: so my mother's grandfather ran a speakeasy and got his liquor from Capone, or so goes my mother's story. He and great-grandma were invited to a party one night on Capone's yacht, which was steered (sailed? what's a yacht-appropriate verb?) to the middle of Lake Michigan. ...
