Which of the following is not one of Koch's postulates? A. The organism is regularly found in lesions of the disease B. The organism can be isolated from diseased tissues in pure culture on artificial media C. Inoculation of this pure culture produces a similar disease in experimental animals D. (1) Isolate the organism from the infected (2) reproduce the organism in a culture (3) inoculate a susceptible host (4)re-isolate the organism from the diseased host Why is it needed? To prove organisms cause a specific disease. Then why doesn't periodontal disease follow Koch's postulates?

Id like to respond to the first postulate from Wednesday. The question is, "Is the yellow line rule more trouble than its worth" My answer to that is an absolute YES! The problem I have with it is this. It gives Nascar way too much input into the decision of the race. Its gives Nascar the ability to affect the outcome of not only the finish for the race win, but it gives them the ability to...

I found this rather interesting on line discussion at http://home.comcast.net/~jeffocal/shadows.htm that postulates it is possible to define a common mechanism responsible for both the quantum and relativistic properties of mass energy space and time by completely replacing the space time geometry with the geometry of only four spatial dimensions. The author’s ...

This is the thread for discussing Plato's Republic . To start with, here are some notes/discussion points: General points of interest: - Is the Socratic method an effective means of searching for--and finding--truth? Much of book 1 is comprised of Socrates' companions criticising his evasiveness and his tendency to shape the argument, with the implication that this creates severe bias, ...

Our Philosophies

This is the new thread I promised in the Republic discussion thread regarding my philosophy on definitions. Essentially, I think that much of the difficulty in arguing philosophical truths is due to the imprecision of the terms used, and the failure of participants in the discussion to define such terms from the outset. We must have a very clear definition of the word "definition" and ...

by George Soros - the heedless assertion of American power in the world resembles a financial bubble—and the moment of truth may be here t is generally agreed that September 11, 2001, changed the course of history. But we must ask ourselves why that should be so. How could a single event, even one involving 3,000 civilian casualties, have such a far-reaching effect? The answer lies not so ...
