As a fan for many years, it is sad to read on this forum how many people think Pedro should retire. I think his days as a starter are over but I think he can still be an effective pitcher in relief. Possibly even a pitching coach as he has alot to share with up and coming pitchers. I hope to see him pitch again next season, if not for the Mets for another team. All the best to you Pedro....

Has anyone heard anything about Pedro leaning towards retirement or is he planning on pitching next year? A part of me would love to see him in the number five spot next year, but then again El Duque was supposed to do that this year, and we all know how that worked out.

This is a no-brainer. Sign Oliver Perez to a reasonable contract (say 3 years $20 Million). Do not sign Pedro Martinez. He is finished as a pitcher as he demonstrated during this season. Pedro: It is time to retire and enjoy life with your family!! Do not worry you are a Hall of Famer in 5 years!! Welcome Oliver !!! Bye Bye Pedro!!!

But when I found out that he gets his kicks strapping razors onto roosters' legs and sending them into a ring to tear each other to shreds till one of them dies...sorry, that's not a "great guy"... He came to us with a rep. of pitching inside, knocking hitters down, ext. He comes to the NL. Where he has to hit, I VERY SELDOM, IF EVER SAW HIM KNOCK ANYONE DOWN. COWARD.

Tbone- mlbtraderumors did say he'll probably come for a lesser price and I remember a sports writer saying he wouldn't mind coming to Houston a few months ago.... Jun/Jul ish, even though it was a rumor. Semper- yeah Towers seems tired of waiting to trade Peavy away. Mlbtraderumors said it will likely take 1-2 more team with the Cubs.... Before the Cubs could get Peavy.
