Husband bought a small (plastic) jar of "adam's minced garlic" after using it he placed it in the pantry and now it reeks of garlic. how do i stop the garlic smell from diffusing into the surrounding air? should i put it in a glass jar? refrigerate it? i'm tempted to throw it away even though it's brand new...

Minced garlic must be refrigerated after opening. It's not safe to use it if it has been left in the cabinet. It can grow botulism. Toss it out. Make sure none of the oil got on the cabinet (maybe the bottom of the container was a little oily). It should air out eventually.
