This is a thread to post any sorts of musical idea you have that are a bit outside the box. What I mean by weird musical ideas is certain things you would want to apply to a band that's out of the ordinary, be it odd tempos, odd instruments, odd sounds, odd band configurations, etc... I was thinking today, since I could hear the cicadas out here in Israel, that it would be awesome to do a ...

i actually have a few albums that utilize the sounds of cicadas to varying extremes. i know alio die has a collaboration with mathias grassow that uses the sound as a sort of recurring theme throughout an album, though lots of "real" instruments are also played. on the other hand, anakrid has an album that is nothing but cicadas run through a chain of effects pedals. i know there are a ...

well, im trying to scrap together an idea for us on the forums to record a song (a modern rock version of Take Me Out to the Ball Game) but I also would like to hear a jew's harp or a steel drum in a rock song or, a band without a drummer, but keys, vox, and guitar (maybe bass)

I always wanted to create an acapella industrial choir. It would be just like mid 90's Leatherstrip, only all of the noises would be created with people's voices.

My goal for my band I'm in is to make an incredibly diverse album. First song will start into a reggae influence rock song of choice. Then drop a big bomb and do write a death metal song.(They will be completely different, each song will carry a pensive mindset). The idea for my band is to never stay in one genre for an entire album, more influences just pile onto the album.

I like that idea, just because it gives you some great freedom. On the other hand, it's harder to create direction or consistency that makes most great albums great. If you can get it to work, though, that would be amazing. Quote: Originally Posted by afterstasis hey hungryfreak, here's a few links... there are a few more that my...

I'm loving it. Definitely stuff I would love to fall asleep to (one of my favorite rituals is zoning out to some good drone/doom/ambient). Now I just need to find some places to downloa- I mean acquire in a completely legal fashion these albums I like the Die/Grassow best so far.
