I'm thinking "I Am A Rock" by Simon & Garfunkel. It's amusing when people completely miss the meaning of the song, but it's still pretty damn sad. There is Taps, too, of course.

Another one would be Hurt by Johnny Cash. I loved the original and when my guitarist and I covered it, I actually started crying hearing our version. A lot of Funeral Doom is really depressing too.
