Personality cults are dangerous. They create polarization and resentment. If Barack Obama's fervent supporters insist on putting him on a pedestal much higher than he deserves, his detractors will argue his admirers are naive and incapable of objectivity. Unity and bipartisanship are much more easily achieved when the winning side shows a willingness to listen to constructive criticism, ...

I've got new hope with the presidential election but am a bit astounded at the way LGBTQ rights were challenged around the country..democrats everywhere but such social conservatism abounds..thoughts? Anyways, I really am posting about this event- lets at least come together to celebrate 25 years of progress right? Ten Percent Society 25th Anniversary Coming Out (to dance) Party on Saturday ...

So Spencer Zimmerman is the first to throw his hat in the ring to challenge Kathleen Falk. All I know about him is: he is a 20-something Republican who lost to Kathy Maves in the primary in Assembly District 46, he wrote some sort of theological thriller novel (seemingly a cross between "The Da Vinci Code" and the " Left Behind" series?), and he is a veteran. I heard snippets of him talking on ...

Hello all. I'm just wondering if anyone has specific songs in mind (from any era/genre, but special attention to 77-87) to fit; A) The time of day (day, sunset, night etc.) B) The weather (rainstorm, fog, windy day etc.) C) The seasons/season change (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer) Has anyone ever made any CD compilations/mixed tapes of the sort?

I ask this after being nearly hit by a State Street bus. Busses were passing by throughout the march. Did we get a permit? If we did hold a permit, are busses exempt from the "yield to marchers" agreement upheld by every other kind of motorist on the road? (Thanks, by the way, for letting us march through red lights and not yelling obscenities, etc. I was really happy with the citizens on ...

When you lose an election you're permitted to leave your bumpersticker on your car for as long as you want. When you win an election, you should remove it immediately. It's one thing to be a sore loser, but a sore winner is insufferable. At least take down your yard signs, folks.

Hello: I'd like a little help in determining this year's local releases. Below is the list I've accumulated so far. If you can fill in a missing release, that would be great. Also, we've been making progress on Local Sounds ( www.localsounds.org ) and there are some cool and useful features. Local Sounds is being reorganized partially as a non-profit with a portion of its mission being to ...

And how about the race for the judicial seat being vacated by Judge Nowakowski? These races are usually well under most people's radar screens, but this is notable-- when's the last time we had an open seat judicial election in this county?? So the question is... who's running? I think nomination papers are due January 6. I've heard a guy from the US Attorney's office here in Madison is ...
