MIT has a great program too. Actually I would recommend if one goes into nuclear, also try to specialize in another field like mechanical, structural, electrical, aerospace, or materials, or perhaps even physics. The field is very competitive. Unfortunately NASA's Prometheus program has stalled, but NASA is continuing to look at nuclear energy for space applications. The NAVY ...

Can this work? Water being a liquid and largely incompressible won't react quickly to variations in pressure to vary temperature, unlike a gas such as steam. What temperature is the water starting? Or am I misunderstanding the procedure? How much difference are you looking to achieve and what kind of flow rates are we talking about?

DisplayAds("Right1"); We all know about 'spatial intelligence' and we also know that some people are better at visualizing than others. I know for example, that when I'm awake, it's very difficult for me to visualize in 3-D and consequently, I have ruled out engineering in favor of a physical science due to my poor spatial abilities and poor visual memory (are they ...

So russ, shawn I imagine a manager who is layed off and has to work at McDonalds for 8 hours a day in Canada or Philadelphia. Now you are both saying that he can bring home 1,500 dollars a month at that job or any similar entry level job ? Aside from age descrimination or overqualification I doubt he would even get that job. By the way could a person who is overqualified simply say he always ...

Rose, Director Peter Jackson happened to comment on this very subject in this week's installment of the King Kong production diary: http://www.kongisking.net/index.shtml He says, "Of course, digital doubles will never replace actors. I mean, that's the big fear and I think it's a lot of old nonsense really when people say, 'Oh well, you know, we won't need actors any more -- we...

DisplayAds("Right1"); This article http://arxiv.org/abs/hep-ph/0412099 while several years old, is a nice summary of the state of the research with regard to neutrinos.

The chicken and egg problem Note that there may be partial solutions to two key challenges to a hydrogen economy. First of all, biofuels from algae appears to offer an efficient and practical solution to solar energy conversion. In effect, by farming algae for the production of biofuels, one grows the solar collector. Test crops have produced the fuel equivalent of about 925KW-Hrs ...
