Rent is certainly ripe for parody. I don't see it as particularly offensive humor. The Ruling Class is my all-time favorite comedy. Most of my list is made up of fairly safe, conventional choices, but that movie is something else entirely - a weird sort of cross between Monty Python, Tim Burton and the Coen Bros.
