I definitely agree with you Kubrick selections. I think I'd probably pick: WOODY ALLEN: Manhattan - The shot of Tracy sitting in the living room, only one light in the entire apartment. If you liked this film, defintley check out Ingmar Bergman's Persona. I consider it to be the greatest film ever made and it had a heavy influence on Lynch when he made Mulholland Drive. You could also post on the Classic Film Board asking for suggestions, which is what I did. The people are really helpful there and are usually into art house films as well.
