too many films to list them all, but off the top of my head, here are some directors you should look into: - Ingmar Bergman - Andrei Tarkovsky (see Mirror and The Stalker...actually if your looking for philosophical films, see everything he has done) - Kiyoshi Kurosawa (director of the Cure... I highly recommend checking out Kairo) - Bela Tarr (considered the new Tarkovsky) - Michael ...

Ingmar Bergman goes horror! "Sessions of the Mind" is certainly different than previous installments of "Jemima" trilogy. This time a female serial killer Jemima no longer reminds me strong-willed persona from "Dating Is Murder" and "Photographic Trophy". She is weak and lost in the world of lies and confusion. She is silent and defeated. But her psychiatrist Victoria is full of pain and agony...

2 Ingmar Bergman might be proud, but ... 3 Rev those abstract motors! 4 Beautiful, but manipulated. 5 Trash that abstract brolly!

I definitely agree with you Kubrick selections. I think I'd probably pick: WOODY ALLEN: Manhattan - The shot of Tracy sitting in the living room, only one light in the entire apartment. HM: Hannah and her Sisters - All the sister at lunch, the camera moving around the group (I'm DYING to replicate that shot!) INGMAR BERGMAN: Persona - the look on Alma's face as the film "burns" with her...

If you liked this film, defintley check out Ingmar Bergman's Persona. I consider it to be the greatest film ever made and it had a heavy influence on Lynch when he made Mulholland Drive. You could also post on the Classic Film Board asking for suggestions, which is what I did. The people are really helpful there and are usually into art house films as well. Lastly I'll link to my own ratings, ...

-1981. Raiders took it pretty easily. My prediction was off, looks like populism won over board regularism again. I'm thinking 1972 might look similar to 1981's results. Godfather = Raiders, Cabaret = Reds, obviously. The Godfather (dir. Francis Ford Coppola) Cabaret (dir. Bob Fosse) Deliverance (dir. John Boorman) The Emigrants (dir. Jan Troell) Sounder (dir. Martin Ritt)...
