I could not help but notice that Kroll was using a lighter when he hit the big time. Somebody offers him a match and he says. "I have always hated matches", then flicks his lighter. I've never smoked but IIRC matches are preferred among aficionados. I am too young to remember Soupy Sales in his heyday, but based on what I have seen and heard his influence is monumental. I don't know if that's necessarily true, but I would suggest that what is considered "cutting-edge" has changed - as it should. If one defies the boundaries of art, then new boundaries should be formed for the next generation to defy.
