some quick thoughts: Trainspotting is the second Danny Boyle feature I've seen, first being Slumdog Millionaire (if any of his other films are worth a view, other than Sunshine, let me know). A splendidly witty, non-preachy, wonderfully weird film about the disastrous consequences regarding drug abuse. It's explicit, disgusting and tormenting nature make it not a film for everybody, though...
